Until Dawn, PS5 Byte Size Review

Big thanks again to guest writer, Nina. Who sat down to a few sessions of scares, before flitting off for a month long holiday in Thailand!

When Until Dawn first released back in 2015, it was quickly considered the best-in-class thriller of its kind, especially in the mainstream space.

It makes sense, then, that Sony would want to put out a next-gen version of the game.

God of War Ragnarok (PC)

Studio Santa Monica’s God of War from 2018 is one of my favourite games in recent memory (despite what the dear editor of this esteemed site thinks of it), which they deftly followed up with God of War Ragnarok.

I sank numerous hours into the original game, featuring grizzled and rough-edged god Kratos (although he’s trying to find his softer side) and his son Atreus, and then did the same with the sequel in 2022.

Horizon Forbidden West PC

Ever since I bought a Valve Steam Deck last year (an original LED model, not the newer OLED one), I have tried to do much of my PC gaming these days on it.

An interesting game I like to play with my Steam library is “Will my Steam Deck play that?”

So when my editor asked if I was keen to review Guerilla’s PlayStation 5 game Horizon Forbidden West, which has been ported to the PC, I immediately asked … “Will my Steam Deck play that? – and it can but with a few caveats.

God of War: Ragnarök, PS5 Review

“Boy, this isn’t game!” – Yes, it is…it’s God of War Ragnarök, one of the best games around!

God of War (2018) was one of the stand-out games of the PS4 generation.

The next entry, God of War: Ragnarök has finally arrived on PS5 and once again Kratos and his “Boy”, Atreus, have a new adventure through Norse mythology.

After almost 20hrs I can say with confidence, it will be atop many Game of the Year lists in 2022.

LEGO Brick Tales Byte Size Review (XSX)

Who doesn’t like LEGO? I have always been a bit of a AFOL, Adult Fan Of Lego if you were wondering.

Whether it is physical LEGO or LEGO games I have been keen. In recent years LEGO games have been more diverse than the classic movie tie-ins we all love.

The Last of Us, Remake PS5

The Last of Us is unmistakable, a game that delivered a swansong for the PS3 in 2013 and got the re-up treatment for the PS4 in the years that followed.

Here we are now, nine years later and revisiting the beginning of the story, again. That’s not a bad thing either, basically Guy said it in a nutshell “my personal top game of the PS3 and PS4 generation is getting a facelift for the PS5”.

So in lieu of being able to record ourselves rambling about the game all night, we thought we’d share a condensed version of our thoughts here.

Playstation Plus: Deluxe

Long have the benefits of Xbox’s “Gamepass” subscription service been touted on Koru-Cottage. It is the closest to the Nefilx-ification of gaming we have seen, and until now it has had no competition on console.

Finally Sony have come to the party with a 3-tier offering.

I have kindly been given access to Playstation Plus: Deluxe to see how it stacks up.

God of War, PC

A new year and another PS4 console game has made the jump to PC, with Santa Monica Studio’s God of War now available to PC gamers – and what a beauty it is.

When the game came out on console in 2018 it quickly became the poster child for how a talented development team could make games on Sony’s console sing.

On PC the graphical fidelity has been turned all the way up to 11 – and it looks bloody fantastic.

Sackboy and Demon’s Souls Remake – Combo Review (Playstation 5)

A new Playstation generation has arrived.

With that, the obligatory ‘Launch Games’ also rear their heads to show off the power of the new machine.

I have been lucky enough to get my hands on both Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Demon’s Souls Remake.

It is fitting in a way to have both a new Sackboy and Demon’s Souls come to christen the new console, as they have been stalwarts of the Playstation brand for over 10yr years.
