Iron Man VR, PSVR Review

Iron Man VR has been a while coming, having had a hands on at PAXAus last year and seeing the recent demo hadn’t moved on much from then. That said, the Rocket Boots have firmly landed hard in our living rooms now.

It has to be acknowledged that Iron Man (the Robert Downey Junior version) led, assembled and exited the Avengers Franchise for a decade. In that time we had a very ropey Iron Man game back in the 360/PS3 era, which didn’t make much use of the man.

You’d think Iron Man would be a perfect shoe-in for a VR game or experience. Remember how good the final swing was in that Spiderman one a couple of years back? Iron Man VR must surely offer that view from the legendary helmet, the sheer nature of donning a headset making sense in more ways than one.

Playstation have had more AAA exclusives you can poke a stick at, Xbox has changed the gaming landscape with the amazing offering that is Game-Pass and Fortnite…..well has taken all the money and given us silly dances in return.

Around six weeks ago, Spider-Man dropped on the Playstation 4 and it was an unbridled success for the platform, selling 3.3 million copies in the first 3 days.

Further to that, the PS4 community have clearly spent hours and hours fulfilling their Spidey fantasy, with the game having one of the highest Platinum Trophy completion rates of any PS4 ‘AAA’ exclusive.

Suffice to say, gamers love Spidey.

It is a brave development studio that takes on a ‘Superhero’ videogame and an even braver one to base it on one of the most well-known and beloved Marvel Comics heroes ever created, but Sony and Insomniac Games did, and thankfully they have done the web-slinger proud.

In this PS4 exclusive, Peter Parker, the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, has been cleaning up New York for 8 years and just when he thought he had NYCs worst crooks all locked away, something demonic tears the city apart and unleashes chaos onto the streets.
