God of War: Ragnarök, PS5 Review

“Boy, this isn’t game!” – Yes, it is…it’s God of War Ragnarök, one of the best games around!

God of War (2018) was one of the stand-out games of the PS4 generation.

The next entry, God of War: Ragnarök has finally arrived on PS5 and once again Kratos and his “Boy”, Atreus, have a new adventure through Norse mythology.

After almost 20hrs I can say with confidence, it will be atop many Game of the Year lists in 2022.

God of War, PC

A new year and another PS4 console game has made the jump to PC, with Santa Monica Studio’s God of War now available to PC gamers – and what a beauty it is.

When the game came out on console in 2018 it quickly became the poster child for how a talented development team could make games on Sony’s console sing.

On PC the graphical fidelity has been turned all the way up to 11 – and it looks bloody fantastic.

God of War, PS4 Review

How do you take a big angry Spartan, who has a thing for killing Gods, ripping out eyeballs and taking sexy baths with naked ladies and turn him into a complex, heart-broken character, who is a father that knows he isn’t up to the responsibility of the role.

Well if you are Sony, you give Santa Monica Studios a boat load of money, a heap of time and the creative freedom to completely re-imagine what it is to be a God Of War.

Alienware M15 R6, gaming laptop review

Alienware’s M15 R6 gaming laptop is a beast of a machine. Clad in Alienware’s dark side of the moon colour scheme, the laptop looks nice as soon as it comes out of the box and ticks all the required boxes for a gaming laptop.

As a long time Intel CPU user, the i7 11800H CPU performed excellently in everything I threw at it, as well. It’s a winning combination.

A big thanks to Intel ANZ for providing the laptop for us to review.

Doom: Eternal – The Ancient Gods Pt2 – Review

Doom: Eternal’s stunning balance of strategy and aggression won it a place on the much coveted “Guys Top 3 Games of 2020” list. Now, Doom: Eternal The Ancient Gods: Pt2 has dropped and I have happily descended back into the depths of DLC Hell to shoot some demons in the face.

Picking up from the cliff-hanger at the end of Ancient Gods: part 1. Doom-Guys doppelganger is the ‘champion of hell’ and needs to be dealt with.

As I said in my original review and my part 1 DLC write-up. Doom Eternal does not have a story worth worrying about.

Take it as read, it’s about Heaven vs Hell, demons and monsters….. and its honestly nonsensical shite, and not the reason we play Doom.

Doom: Eternal – The Ancient Gods Pt1 – Review (PS4)

Doom: Eternal – The Ancient Gods

I was not a fan of Doom 2016. However, whilst reviewing Doom: Eternal I succumbed to the dark-arts of ID Softwares game design.

Doom: Eternal became my favorite First Person Shooter of 2020, hands down! So, obviously I jumped at the chance to go back into hell and play the new DLC.

If you haven’t played Doom: Eternal, them shame on you, go play it now! Then  play its DLC, The Ancient Gods.

I will happily receive your thanks in written and gift form.

CoD: Modern Warfare 2019 – M/P Beta

Over this weekend I got all hot and sweaty. I immersed myself back into the Multi-Player world of Call of Duty.

Something I haven’t done in many years, as the ridiculous, bombastic, sci-fi direction CoD has taken in the last 10 years has not grabbed me. Well, CoD: Modern Warfare 2019 is going to change all that.

The prospect of a contemporary, realistic shooter peaked my interest when I saw the Campaign trailer earlier this year. It seriously looks like my cup of tea. So when a code for the M/P Beta hit my emails I couldn’t help but go for a look.

Byte Size – God Eater 3

The God Eater series is not something I am familiar with, lets have that out in the open. As a sci-fi soap opera, I’m sure it would be interesting to delve into, but as it stands being a virgin in the God Eater universe I’m a little more dazed and confused than leading the charge.

The Good – There’s a deep sci-fi canon on offer if you can listen to the dialogue, and the unfeasible weapons are impressive. The bullet building feature is the highlight.

The Bad – Angsty teen styled dialogue, overly complex controls and too much to remember.

The Ugly – The graphics need a decent feed. Combat missions are way too short.

The combat is fun to a point, but given some of the controls and the reliance on remembering how or when to use certain combos it never really gets past the hack and slash approach for me.
