The Last of Us 2: Remastered, Review

The Last of Us 2 (TLoU2) was the swansong title for the PS4 in 2020 and it was AMAZING.

Hyperbole aside, it is the best video game ever made. So, Sony have seen fit to drop a native PS5 version and pack in some other goodies, plus a ‘rouge-like’ mode for good measure.

After replaying it all for this review I can say with confidence…it is STILL one of my favourite video games of all time!

The Last of Us, Remake PS5

The Last of Us is unmistakable, a game that delivered a swansong for the PS3 in 2013 and got the re-up treatment for the PS4 in the years that followed.

Here we are now, nine years later and revisiting the beginning of the story, again. That’s not a bad thing either, basically Guy said it in a nutshell “my personal top game of the PS3 and PS4 generation is getting a facelift for the PS5”.

So in lieu of being able to record ourselves rambling about the game all night, we thought we’d share a condensed version of our thoughts here.

Musings – The Last of Us: Part 2

Guest writer Nina, takes a deep dive into some thoughts about The Last of Us: Part 2 and its online turmoil.

“As I will be trying to analyse one of this game’s central themes, I’ll have to dive into the nitty-gritty details of the story. So, dear reader, consider yourself warned. Spoilers Ahead.”

To say that The Last of Us: Part 2 is a divisive game would be an understatement

All you need to do is scroll through the comment section of any The Last of Us: Part 2 related content to realise just how angry some people are over the games’ narrative direction. And while some of the criticisms of this title’s writing and plot have a modicum of merit, after playing the game myself I believe that the reality is something far different.

Part 2’s utilisation of perspective encourages players to question everything they thought they knew about the characters they’ve grown to love. Naughty Dog do this in what is a unique approach for a video game. By putting the player in the position of someone who was hurt or wronged by them.

The Last of Us Part 2, Youtube review

First up, a very big thank you to Playstation for providing us with early access to The Last of Us Part 2 for review.

A very, very big thank you to developers Naughty Dog too.

The Last of Us came in at the twilight end of the PS3 life cycle and what a way to bow out. The game grabbed people on so many levels for its story telling, characters and sheer class.

Now we find ourselves at the tail end of the PS4, who would have thought that day would come, but by all accounts there will be a PS5 under my TV before the year is out. The Last of Us Part 2 is delivering that same swan song again, in spades.

Our actual review will be the Youtube link you came for. We had to give it more of an introduction. Click the link below and watch, listen, absorb what Guy has to say. You won’t regret it.

This is it, this is the game your PS4 has been dying to show you.

The Last of Us Part II : Preview

It’s 2:47 am on a Tuesday morning, I got into a cold bed at 2:35 am after playing The Last of Us Part II. Again.

For clarity I just finished the area that is allowed to be previewed pre-embargo lifting and I can’t stop thinking about it. In fact I thought about it all the way to work. While I was at work, then all the way home. Being a week behind other outlets I wasn’t going to run a preview, but here we are.

In a couple of days full reviews will hit, next week the game will be out. For now we can lift the lid on a taste of what to expect.

Thanks again to Playstation and Naughty Dog for the opportunity to review The Last of Us Part II before release.

Logitech Wave Keys keyboard & Lift mouse (byte sized)

Throughout my professional career, my keyboard of choice has tended to be the non-ergonomic type.

You’ll likely know the ones I’m taking about: Standard QWERTY keyboards, rectangular shape.

For the past few weeks that’s changed, though: I’ve been using Logitech’s wireless Wave Keys keyboard, which has a gentle, ergonomic curve to it, putting your hands in a more natural position.

Logitech MX Keys S keyboard & MX Anywhere 3S mouse

I’ve always been a fan of Logitech’s hardware and have owned a fair few keyboards, mice and other peripherals over the years.

Currently sitting in my desk shelf is a Logitech Performance MX mouse.

So I was looking forward to testing out the company’s new MX Keys S keyboard and MX Anywhere 3S mouse.

Aerox 9 Wireless Mouse

A long time ago a mouse for me was a wired device with a dust gathering ball at its heart.

The Aerox 9 proves we are a long way past the days of white spirit soaked cotton-buds. Before getting the chance to review a ‘real’ gaming mouse, I wouldn’t walk past the budget mice.

I mean, they all point and click, right?

I’m never too proud to say I was wrong.
