Blood & Truth PSVR hands-on preview

We recently had the opportunity to send cheeky chappie Darren Price on an hands on adventure with new PSVR title Blood and Truth, and it turned better than a Bank Holiday in the Queen Vic.

“I recently entered a world of old lags, muppets and geezers for a trip to the East-End London with PlayStation AU and their up-coming PSVR game, Blood & Truth.

Blood & Truth comes to us from SIE London Studio, the same developers that knocked out the VR Worlds anthology title for PSVR. The new game is an extension of their acclaimed The London Heist sequence that was the highlight of VR Worlds.

If you are familiar with Guy Ritchie films like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, you are on the right track. This is a game chock-full of violent Cockney villains, so expect loads of tasty-looking, tooled-up geezers, lots of swearing and comedy East-End accents.”

LucidSound LS41 7.1 Headphones, Video Review

LucidSound is a relatively new kid on the block in the world of headsets, but they have put their flag in the sand and launched with a specific focus on gamers.

LucidSound shipped their first headset in March 2016, but they have some history in the gaming audio space, as the founder Chris Von Huben, was the founder of the very successful Triton gaming accessories company, which he sold to MadCatz in 2014ish, he then went on to start LucidSound.

Von Huben indicated he wanted to bring the aesthetic of Beats by Dre but build in the natural core control schemes gamers need.

The LS41 is the 2019 flagship 7.1 wireless model for LucidSound and it certainly holds true to the idea of being the ‘Beats’ headphones for gamers. Well made with excellent features and are now my go-to PS4 headset, hands-down. I love them.

Anthem – Post release considerations, PS4

Anthem, you will have heard of it no doubt. Anybody with the slightest toe dipped in to Gaming, Social Media or having seen the odd Bus drive past will be familiar. Being the latest title from Bioware the stakes were high and it has to be said, Bioware fans can be a fervent pack when they are poked with a stick. Let’s be straight up from the front.

The company has delivered a game that does not stick to their modus operandi, fair enough, but the fans didn’t know and they’re upset.

The company has tried to deliver a game du jour, moderately massively persistently online, bullet sponge enemies and heaps of customisation.

The company has actually delivered a flawed, but fun game that can be enjoyed on different levels if you forgive a few structural issues.

This is probably a good time to say, this isn’t a review in the traditional sense, there are various reasons for that, but the key ones will be the method of Anthem’s launch and popularisation, alongside the pack mentality and vocal rejection of the game by anybody with a phone and some data for Twitter.

Byte Size – Beat Saber, PSVR Review

With Playstation VR going from strength to strength in 2018 though, it seemed only matter of time before an immersive music-based game would raise its virtual head. Low and behold, little known Czech-based developer Beat Games have done just that.

The Good- Beat Saber is a game where the whole family can play….and more importantly, WANT to play. It is unique, easy to understand and fun. There is no motion sickness, looks great and even works as light physical exercise. My wife is NOT (yes in capitals)… not a gamer, and she loves this game.

The Bad – The music selection is very limited, which is a big deal for a music rhythm game. None of the songs you will likely know, and worse you cannot add custom music like our PC cousins can.

The Ugly – At $48.95 it’s pretty expensive when compared to some of the other amazing titles on offer on PSVR.

Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, PSVR Review

Waaaaay back in 2016 as part of the PSVRs launch, there was a little demo about a little robot. He was cute, funny and great fun to play with. But the demo was painfully short and the cries from the burgeoning PSVR audience for a full blown Astro Bot game, were loud and clear.

Well Sony listened, and in conjunction with Japan Studios, they have created one of the best platforming experiences I have personally played in decades.

SculptrVR, PSVR Review

Okay, it’s not a game.

SculptrVR is something I have seen in other platforms in similar guises and has been something of a surprise for me.

I have to admit, I know little to nothing about Voxel graphics, but I do consider myself somewhat artistic. Neither of these things helped me while I was plugged in to SculptrVR, my artistic confidence went missing as soon as I realised the scope of what was on offer and my puny human brain couldn’t quite capture the grandness of what I could achieve with 3D Voxel modelling.

MOSS, PSVR Review

There’s no point beating around the bush, Moss should be a PSVR system seller.

On the face of it the game could be discarded as a simplified platformer about a cute mouse – on the face of it.

But and this really is a big but, slipping on the PSVR Headset and finding yourself drawn into the world of Moss and its protagonist Quill makes something magical happen.

You are there, in the world standing over this magical kingdom and feeling more a part of the environment than you ever have before.
