Midnight Suns, review

Midnight Suns is a big game and it came to us late in the year. So we thought it was best to let Dylan and Guy have a crack over their Christmas breaks. They put their heads together and well, at the least, I feel seen…

Thanks to 2k for supplying the codes and the team for putting in the time.

Mafia Definitive Edition, PC Review

With the release of Mafia Definitive Edition last month, 2K’s Mafia trilogy is now complete.

When I reviewed Mafia 2 in August this year, I ended my review (based on the lacklustre Mafia 2 remaster) by saying: “I can’t recommend this package right now, especially given it’s incomplete until Mafia is released in August.”

Well, now that I have finished Mafia Definitive Edition, my verdict is easy: It’s definitely worth your time. Especially with the love that has been lavished in updating the original Mafia for today’s modern gamer.

A game that tells the rise [then fall] of Lost Heaven (New York) taxi driver Tommy Angelo through the ranks of a feared crime family during the 1930s.

The Bioshock Collection (Nintendo Switch)

This is not a review about the Bioshock Collection games in the sense that I will tread the now familiar narrative ground. Bioshock 1 and 2 and Infinite have graced numerous platforms since the first game appeared in 2007. So gamers don’t need to be schooled on what they’re about and what’s going on.

No, this review is purely to take in the technical spectacle that is The Bioshock Collection on Nintendo’s Switch handheld. Make no mistake: This is a port worth having on the Nintendo’s portable. Especially Bioshock Infinite, perhaps my favourite game in the series.

Mafia 2 review (The Mafia Trilogy Definitive editions)

The Mafia franchise is one that has polarised gamers right from the very beginning, to say “things never change” here’s our Mafia 2 review.

You either liked it or you hated it but I have fond memories of playing the first Mafia on a PC.

Ultimately, with Mafia 2 Definitive Edition, 2K have done the bare minimum required and released it, which is disappointing. All eyes will be on the original Mafia at the end of August to see how that game fares with a new lick of paint.

Our fingers are collectively crossed and we’re all holding our breath. As the state of that Mafia will seal the fate of this so-called Definitive collection.

Borderlands 3, PS4 review

It’s been over a month since Borderlands 3 landed.

It feels much longer because we were incessantly hounded by it during the build-up to launch. It took me that long to plough through the game, so it was appropriate to scale down the review. I mean, what don’t you already know from your Influencer Overlords?

Historians will note that being alive in 2019 inevitably meant unavoidable exposure to Borderlands 3. There were campaigns on all fronts, it was a war fought globally. Including watching from the sidelines as special people were flown around for international previews. Even having their ego stroked by being sent roses to crow about the launch of a trailer. Yes, a trailer.

At the end of the day, whether you were ‘influenced’ or not – how did it play?

NBA 2K20, PS4 Review

I’m not a huge player of Video Games in the Sports genre, so loading up NBA 2K20 was very much a fresh experience for me.  I came to learn two things about the current state of AAA sports games.

They look and feel amazing to play, with a perfect balance of fun and realism I never thought Video Games would or could achieve and secondly, that micro-transactions seem to have permeated every facet of the genre.

WWE 2K20 – Leukaemia & Lymphoma Society Partnership

2K have partnered up WWE 2K20 with The Leukaemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). With cover star Roman Reigns as its figurehead the campaign is set to drive donations for the LLS through September and October. Reigns himself is a second time survivor of Leukaemia.

Having survived Stage 4 Lymphoma myself back in 2005. This is a subject close to all sorts of avenues in my body. There isn’t a day goes by that I don’t think about what might have been or worry about what tomorrow might bring.

Borderlands 3 is coming in hot

There is no doubt that with a few weeks to go, Borderlands 3 is coming in hot.

Word on the street from Gamescom is full of praise. The hands on demos we’ve seen on social media have been looking great until now, but this feels more straight up.

Its absolutely obvious the Hype Train is at full tilt and won’t be stopping at any stations on its way to September 13th.

The Golf Club 2019 featuring PGA Tour – review

A funny thing happened on the way to the internet… this review was supposed to be published a while ago, so apologies to Reagan Morris, a favourite guest at the cottage who has been patiently reminding us about this one that got away.

So, without further ado, skip the first 18 and get straight to the 19th Hole, settle down and see what he thinks.
