Monster Energy: AMA Supercross Championship 25, Review

I love the Italian developer, Milestone. They make games in niche motorsport racing genres that most big studios ignore. But I dig ‘em! Be it GP Motorcycles, Motorcross, Hotwheels, Monster Trucks, Rally or in this case, Supercross. Milestone have carved out a “AA+” niche all of their own, and more often than not…they smash it out of the park.

Rise of the Ronin, PS5 Review

That sweet middle ground of an immersive open world RPG, combined with the challenge of a From Soft game has always been on my Wishlist.

Now, before you take a breath to scream…” Elden Ring”. Yes, it was wonderful! But for me, the story and world lore were too convoluted to be engossing. And the combat, the bosses in particular, was just too hard for me…….so, a wonderful game, but not fun.

Rise of the Ronin though, seems to sit in this sweet spot though, or I thought it was going to.

Backbone One review, Android

Backbone, from a design point of view the name fits. From a purpose point of view the name fits. What we have here is a very sleek and functional way to access remote play gaming on your phone.

As a late night gamer I’m always torn between finishing a dungeon in Diablo before bed and respecting myself in the morning. The Backbone gives me a great option, that’s not the Switch.

Playstation Plus: Deluxe

Long have the benefits of Xbox’s “Gamepass” subscription service been touted on Koru-Cottage. It is the closest to the Nefilx-ification of gaming we have seen, and until now it has had no competition on console.

Finally Sony have come to the party with a 3-tier offering.

I have kindly been given access to Playstation Plus: Deluxe to see how it stacks up.

Gran Turismo 7, review

Playstation owners now get treated to another top tier exclusive, Gran Turismo 7 (GT7).

Polyphony Digital has kept in step with it’s other first party stablemates, by making sure GT7 boasts all the quality and polish we all now expect from Playstation Studios exclusives.

Gran Turismo was the racing-sim gold standard for years, it’s been almost a decade since a numbered release in the series.

I’m pleased to say, GT7 is here to confirm there is no doubt who takes pole position in the driving sim standings.

Deathloop, PS5 Review

Thanks to guest reviewer Mark Isaacson for his in depth Deathloop review.

Set on the mysterious island of Blackreef, you play as highly trained assassin Colt, who awakes to find himself stuck in the same day, every day.

He must slowly piece together clues in order to kill eight targets (Visionaries) before the day ends.

Each visit to the island provides new opportunities to explore, new paths to various objectives and plenty of weird ways to mess up the timeline before it resets.

Returnal, Review (PS5)

I have always hated games from the Rogue-Like genre. The lack of progression, the severe penalty for simple mistakes and if I’m honest, the feeling of games just being unfair. It does nothing for me.

Well…the genius’s at Housemarque have found the perfect Rogue-Like recipe. Cooking up a beautifully atmospheric, AAA quality, frenetic shooter.

In fact, at this stage of the year Returnal currently sits atop my Game of the Year list for 2021.

2020 Roundup, the year that was.

How do you have a 2020 Roundup? A year that has put the Annus in Annus Horribulus. The ongoing pandemic notwithstanding its been a year where everybody seems to have shared tragedy on some level. Having lost close friends, dear pets and suffered a weather event catastrophe I’m just glad COVID has not yet reached my door.

Here we at the dawn of a New Year, and just like twelve short months ago. Everybody is wishing that when that calendar clicks over the trend gets better. We should take a quick spin around the highlights of what we managed under such adversity.
