Trek to Yomi: Side-scrolling samurai

Shinto mythology describes Yomi as the Japanese word for land of the dead. It is said to be where the dead go to dwell and apparently rot indefinitely.

It’s comparable to Hell or Hades and it’s here that much of Flying Wild Hogs’ and Leonard Menchiari’s samurai hack ‘n slash game Trek to Yomi takes place.

Norton VPN, byte-size feature

I’ve been using a Norton’s VPN in some form for a few years now. Frankly, I wouldn’t go online using either my iPad or my PC without it activated. Even when my life is so boring that I’m sure no hacker could be bothered hacking my accounts.

Norton VPN offers features such as automatically securing your connection if you connect to a compromised network.

Logitech G413 SE mechanical keyboard review

Over the years, I’ve had a few Logitech PC peripherals, mainly keyboards and mice, and I have to say I’ve always been a big fan of the company’s hardware.

All of the keyboards I’ve used over the years, however, have been standard ones. By that I mean they didn’t have mechanical keys.

Well, that changed recently when Logitech got in touch asking if I’d be keen to check out its G413 SE.

A wired mechanical gaming keyboard with tactile mechanical switches that feels excellent to game and type on.

Submerged: Hidden Depths preview (PC)

If you’re looking for a game that was the very definition of a relaxing experience, then Submerged: Hidden Depths could well be the game you’re looking for.

Hidden Depths is a sequel, I guess, to Uppercut’s game Submerged from 2015 and I’m able to tell you about my first hour with latest game.

Alienware M15 R6, gaming laptop review

Alienware’s M15 R6 gaming laptop is a beast of a machine. Clad in Alienware’s dark side of the moon colour scheme, the laptop looks nice as soon as it comes out of the box and ticks all the required boxes for a gaming laptop.

As a long time Intel CPU user, the i7 11800H CPU performed excellently in everything I threw at it, as well. It’s a winning combination.

A big thanks to Intel ANZ for providing the laptop for us to review.

A new year and another PS4 console game has made the jump to PC, with Santa Monica Studio’s God of War now available to PC gamers – and what a beauty it is.

When the game came out on console in 2018 it quickly became the poster child for how a talented development team could make games on Sony’s console sing.

On PC the graphical fidelity has been turned all the way up to 11 – and it looks bloody fantastic.

Age of Empires IV, review

t’s been almost 15 years since the last instalment of Microsoft’s seminal real-time strategy (RTS) game. Man, it’s good to be back playing the newest game in the series, Age of Empires IV. Back in the day, Ensemble Studios was the proud custodian of the Age of Empire mantle but that developer has sadly long since departed.

The reins have now been handed to Canadian development studio Relic Entertainment, an experienced developer with a fine pedigree of RTS games behind it like Homeworld and the Company of Heroes series.

Returning to the medieval age, AOEIV offers eight civilizations (English, Chinese, French, Rus, Roman Empire, Delhi Sultanate, Mongols and Abbasid Dynasty) and a handful of single-player campaigns running from the Norman invasion of Britain in 1066 up to the Russo-Kazan wars of 1552.
